FINNEY, John D., age 75

Died: Saturday, January 17th, 2015

Family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the funeral home with a time for sharing memories of John to follow

A private family interment will be held at a later date

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given to Joshua's Camp in memory of John.

John D. Finney, age 75, of Eau Claire passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.

John was born on July 10, 1939 to the late John W. and Marjorie (Meyer) Finney in Indianapolis, IN. He grew up in the Anderson, IN area graduating from St. Mary's High School and later received his master's degree in Audiology from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. On August 19, 1961, he married Catherine Natale in East Chicago, IN. They moved to Duluth, MN where they lived for many years raising their family.

In the early 70's they moved to Ishpeming, MI where they opened the Family Hearing Center and Audiological Services, Inc. They owned and operated the business for many years. After selling the business they retired to Florida and later moved to Eau Claire to be closer to family. In 2010, John and Cathy founded Joshua's Camp with the first camp being held in the spring of 2012. John received the local Jefferson Award for his work with the camp and was chosen from twelve recipients to represent the area in Washington,  D.C. 

John is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Christy (Mike) Voelker, Tish (Tom) Wilson, Jackie Finney, Katie (Chad) Sonmor; grandchildren: Alexa (Danny), Megan (Michael), Dan, Corey (Leslie), Samantha (Eric), Elliot, Shelby, and Lily; great grandchildren, Liam, Ethan, Rylan, and Rori; brothers: William (Joyce), Don (Nancy), David (Valli); many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Julie Massey.
