Visitation: family will receive friends one hour prior to service
Interment: will be held at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Chetek, Wisconsin

Severt "Boots" C. Solum, age 88, of Altoona, died on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Dove Healthcare-West in Eau Claire.
Boots was born on February 20, 1927, to the late Severt and Esther (Bietler) Solum in Hartland, Wisconsin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy in Seattle, Washington, where he met and married his wife, Jerrianne Schneider, on June 28, 1947. It was Jerri who gave him the nickname "Boots" while they were dating and it stuck with him thereafter. Boots worked as a meat manager for Kerm' s for over 30 years. He was an avid Packer Backer, loved fishing and deer hunting, and enjoyed his many travels throughout the world. He enjoyed getting together with family at family events and was loved and endeared by all.
He is survived by his son, Severt "Skip" Solum; brothers, Glenn (Adelyne) of Gurnee, Il, Marlin (Rose Mary) and Gale (Cheryl) both of Chetek; sister, Barbara (Jack) Zupan of Bruce; sisters-in-law, Vi Solum and Helen Solum; brother-in-law, Rudy Schleusner; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Boots was preceded in death by his wife, Jerrianne; special friend and companion, Pauline Millsap; brothers, Wayne and Keith; and sisters, Dona and Mary Ann.
