GILLETTE, Ruth L., age 91

Died: Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Sherrard Presbyterian Church in Sherrard, Illinois

A private interment was held in Sherrard Cemetery, Richland Grove Twp, Illinois

Ruth L. Gillette, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Grace Edgewood in Altoona, Wisconsin.

Ruth was born on August 29, 1920 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to the late Lester and Mary (Gould) Holliday. At age 10, her family moved to Sherrard, Illinois. Ruth was valedictorian of her high school class and following graduation worked for Tindall's Grocery Store. She married Robert Gillette after he returned from military service in WWII. Ruth was employed 43 years with Farmer's State Bank of Sherrard where she was a "mother" to many and loved by all. She delighted in sharing stories of her family childhood experiences and growing up on the farm in Fergus Falls.  Ruth loved a good prank and a laugh. She had a great compassion for those facing life's difficulties and held a special place in her heart for her niece, Joanne Holliday. She was a life long, avid Cub's fan. But above all else was her deep love and reverence for Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her son, Robert J. (Lisa) Gillette; granddaughters, Hannah and Olivia; brother, Don Holliday; sister, Leona Mabeus; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Gillette.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
