KISHABA, Albert N., age 84

Died: Saturday, October 19th, 2013

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sacramento, California

Albert "Pops" Kishaba, age 84, passed from this life to life in heaven on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his home in Eau Claire.

He was the fifth of six sons born to Japanese immigrant parents on January 29, 1929 in Florin, California. He endured (but never complained about) the Japanese internment during WWII then went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean war, earned his Bachelor's degree in chemistry from Oberlin College and his PhD in entomology (the study of insects) from Purdue University. The majority of his career was spent working for the USDA in Riverside, California. In his prime, he enjoyed fishing, cycling, backpacking and woodworking.

On September 11, 1954 he married Yaeko Suyama and was a devoted husband throughout 50 years of marriage, particularly the last few as he lovingly and tirelessly cared for her in failing health until her home-going in 2005.  He was a wonderful father and grandfather who enthusiastically supported his sons and grandchildren in all they did. And in 2008 he moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to be near his beloved grandchildren.

In retirement he loved to bird watch until this was supplanted by providing food, shelter and veterinary care for a myriad of feral cats. In his later years, he loved to read and theology was his passion. He pursued God through the pages of the Bible and books by such authors as CS Lewis, Ravi Zacharias and JI Packer. Ultimately he found God in Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his brother, Kuni (Lucy); sons, Robert and Gregg (Kathy); and grandchildren, Kristin, Allison, Carolyn, Thomas and Robert.
