Arthur W. McLeod, age 86, of Eau Claire died suddenly on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Art was born on September 4, 1926 to the late Alexander and Catherine (Anderson) McLeod at Luther Hospital. He was raised by mother, Catherine and step-father, O.B. Crandall. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the ship, USS Oberon from 1944-46. On March 15, 1947, Art married Bernice Kubaskie in Eau Claire who preceded him in death on February 28, 1998.

He worked for the City of Eau Claire from 1948-90. Most of these years were spent in the Street Department. His love of trains and John Wayne movies occupied much of his time in retirement years.

Art was a very active member of the Eau Claire Scottish Rite, the ZOR Shriners of Madison; Lodge 112 F&AM and the Shriners Marching Band. He enjoyed making popcorn at the Shrine Circus and being the top seller of the annual onion fund raiser. He was also a life member of VFW Post 305.

Art enjoyed people whether it was a family or social gathering. He also enjoyed having coffee with friends and being a regular patron at Smiths County Inn for Friday Night Fish Fry. Art was also an avid Packer fan.

On October 12, 2001, he wed Virginia (Jacobs) Wiederrich at First United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, NV. Upon marrying Virginia he gained 3 more daughters. He was proud to say, "I have 5 daughters."

His is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Bonnie McLeod-Lamb of Sparta, Cindy McLeod of Menomonie, Kathleen Hanson of Richfield, MN, Tammy (Tim) Zuehlke of Sturm, Penny (Dave) Brantner of Eau Claire; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; half brother, Augie (Lil) Crandall of Chippewa Falls; brothers-in-law; Wally (Betty) Jacobs of Brunswick, GA, Larry (Nancy) Jacobs, wherever they park their motor home, Mike (Linda) Carnahan of Shawano, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his dog, Sam.

Arthur was preceded in death by his brother, Duncan McLeod, and sisters, Jessie Robertson and Theresa "Tweety" Zilmer.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
