A private family gathering will be held Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Hazel Aurelia Goulet Gram passed away peacefully at age 94 at Sacred Heart Hospital on Monday, September 12, 2011, graced by a full moon which rose to guide her spirit to her final home with her beloved husband, two brothers, her only sister, and her granddaughter who all departed this earth long before her.
In the twilight of her life, she searched the long corridors of her memory for loved ones long gone, happy times long past, drawing on these memories to enrich her isolation.
Hazel Gram loved to play the piano by ear, recalling jazz tunes and melodies from her life as a young woman when she and her husband, Sigmund, cut a lively figure on the dance floor enjoying the big bands of the war years.
Fun loving, with a keen sense of the absurd, Hazel enjoyed nature and gardening when she was able to pursue these activities.
The years of mothering her three children, Priscilla (David Kuehn), Annette (Joel Bartizal), and Valgene (Lynn Trojan), were her happiest; full and rich - loving her children and subsequent grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally. She is survived by one brother, Valgene Goulet, her children, her grandchildren, Scott Kuehn, Joshua Hagen, Sofia and Nathan Braatz, Jesse, Aaron and Isobel Gram, and two great grandchildren, Charles and Joseph Gram.
Hazel Gram was employed as a secretary by the Board of Education at the County Courthouse upon graduation from Eau Claire Senior High School. During the war years, she was employed by Northwestern Motors while her husband, Sigmund, served in the United States Air Force in the European Theatre.
Hazel Gram enjoyed her years skiing, snow shoeing, and golfing with her husband and friends until an accident took away her physical activities.
For exercise, she swam for many years at the local YMCA along with her brother, Valgene, who faithfully drove her to this much anticipated activity.
Hazel Gram spent her last ten years at Oakwood Gardens in Altoona, Heritage Assisted Living in Eau Claire and her last year at Comforts of Home in Chippewa Falls. She resides now with God. Goodbye and rest well, beloved Mother.
