Doris Kastel, age 76, of Eau Claire passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at her home. Doris was born on September 23, 1939 to the late Wallace and Frances (Cowell) Simonson in Rock Creek Township, Wisconsin.

Doris spent many years of her life taking care of residents, family, and friends while employed at the Clairemont Nursing Home. She truly liked helping and caring for people.

Doris loved to travel. She and her companion, George, travelled through many states on their way to visit her children on the west coast. She always managed to find new items along the way to add to her vast collection of memorabilia.

She was an avid letter writer and kept in touch with her vast family members. There was always a newspaper clipping or birth announcement she would share whenever you stopped over. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Doris is survived by her children, Fred of Eau Claire; Kevin (Colleen) of Osseo; Kory (Connie) of Texas; and Cindi Kastel of California; grandchildren, Tanya, Cody, Jesse, Joseph, Kyle, Ryan, Brittany, Joshua, Sandi, Michael, and Jesse; brothers, George, Leo II, LeRoy, Joe, and Lloyd; sisters, Edna, Shirley, Charlotte, and Donna; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; brothers, Leo I, Elmer, Donald, and Geraldean; sisters Kathryn, Karen, Joyce, and Ester. She was also preceded in death by her longtime companion, George Oestreich.
