Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eau Claire

Visitation: will be one hour prior to service at church

Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin

Donald (Don) K. Dickson, age 99, of Eau Claire, was called home on Thursday, January 4, 2024 by our Heavenly Father to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Don was born in Eau Claire on October 13, 1924 to the late Lyle John and Ruth Marion (Mittelstadt) Dickson. He was 5 years old when the Stock Market crashed and his Dad got laid off at the Gillete tire manufacturing company and in 1929 the family moved to his Uncle Ervie's farm in Truax. Don and his older sister, Betty, went to a one room school located one mile away and had to walk on Highway 12 every day until 1934. Don's dad got a job with the WPA and moved to Shawtown and rented the upstairs of Sam Walker's house on N. Michigan Street.

Don lived in Shawtown during his grade school and teenage years and was an original member of the Flying Eagle Ski Club. Don attended Eau Claire High School graduating with the class of 1942. From February 1943 to his discharge in 1946, Don proudly served our country in the Coast Guard; a branch of the Navy during WWII. On May 29, 1948 Don was united in marriage to Helen Stamos in Eau Claire.

In 1947, Don joined National Presto Industries in Eau Claire. He served as an Accountant, a Contract Administrator during the Vietnam War, and an Insurance Manager. After 42 years of service, Don retired in 1989.

Both Don and Helen were active members of Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Eau Claire until 1992 when they moved to Orlando, FL. They became members of First Baptist Church where Don sang in the choir and served as usher. In 2005, Don returned to Wisconsin and Bethesda and resided in Altoona.

Following the death of Helen in 2001, Don married Donna Engan on May 18, 2007. They both loved to travel and spend the winter months in Florida. Don loved to fish, go camping in their motorhome, read the bible and Christian books, use the computer, and spend time with his family and grandchildren. He spent several of his retirement years doing his family and brother-in-law's family genealogy.

Don is survived by his wife, Donna; son, John (Karen) of Stanley, WI; daughter, Gloria Fuller of Lancaster, WI; grandson, Aaron Dickson; granddaughter, Alena Dickson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; infant son, Douglas Lee; son-in-law, Roger Fuller; sisters, Betty Jean Miller and Lois Blakley; brother-in-law, Clare (Evelyn) Stamos; and sister-in-law, Beverly (Kenneth) Bergum.
