Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Hope United Methodist Church (off Golf Road)

Visitation: family will receive friends one hour prior to service at church

Interment: Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington, Wisconsin

Edith F. George, age 81, of Eau Claire died peacefully on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.

Edith was born on December 20, 1933 to the late Harold and Minnie (Comstock) Ferris in Passaic, New Jersey. On August 12, 1955 she married Donald George during a hurricane in Wallington, New Jersey. In 1968 they moved Wisconsin where Don worked at the UW-Eau Claire. Edith took great pride in her role as wife, mother, and homemaker opening her heart and home for over 33 years to 62 foster children. She loved going to the family cottage, being with family,

She is survived by her sons, Clifford (Ellen) of Racine, WI and Mark (Kay) of Anoka, MN; daughters, Linda (Ed) Wiese of Neenah, WI and Joy George of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily, Catherine, and Alec; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Steven; and sisters, Eleanor Dietrich and Peggy Wild.
