SIKER, Marcia "Marci" A., age 86

Died: Monday, July 31st, 2017

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Evergreen Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Brown officiating

Visitation: family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Saturday

Interment: Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington, Wisconsin

In lieu of flowers, Marci's family suggests memorials be given to the UWEC Women's Basketball Program (in care of the UW-EC Foundation http://www.uwec.edu/foundation/) or to Literacy Chippewa Valley http://literacycv.org/ 

 

Marcia "Marci" A. Siker, age86, formerly of Eau Claire, WI passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 in Arthur, IL.

Marci was born August 12, 1930 in Fort Sheridan, IL. She was the daughter of Floy and Marguerite (Gibson) Ashley. She married John P. Storrs in 1951. She later married Milton Siker in 1979.  

She earned a bachelor of science in education from Wisconsin State College and a master of science in teaching from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She was a kindergarten teacher for 10 years and a reading specialist for 20 years with the Eau Claire Area School District. She co-founded the Young Authors Conference sponsored by the Wisconsin State Reading Association and mentored many young writers and teachers.

Marci enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, decorating, collecting, and spending time with family and friends. She was a volunteer with numerous community organizations including Step Force at Luther Mayo Hospital, the UWEC Alumni Board and adult literacy. She was an avid supporter of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Basketball Program.

She is survived her by son, J. Patrick (Nancy) Storrs, Jr. of West Bend, WI; daughter, Carrie (Bill Payne) Storrs of Pesotum, IL; stepchildren, Gigi (Joel) Andrews of Glen Allen, VA, Nancy Siker of Greenfield, WI and Michael Siker of Eau Claire; and grandchildren, AJ (Dana) Storrs, Sam Storrs, and Kailee Andrews; other family members and friends.

Marci was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Lauren Ashley; and sister, Faith Kell.
