Robert "Bear" W. Stapleton, age 74, of Altoona passed on to a better life on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona.

Robert was born on October 15, 1941 to the late Thomas and Beryl (Wandell) Stapleton in Janesville, Wisconsin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Bear was always the life of the party! He loved to dance, was fun loving and liked to give people a hard time.  Bear was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a talent and passion for building beautiful flower gardens, ponds and waterfalls and a love for animals.

Bear is survived his children, Lisa, Dawn and Annie; special friends, Bev and Mark Litka, who have been there with him every step of the way; sisters, Mary Ann Clark (Don), Kay Krupka and Roni (Dan) Grieving; brothers, Bud (Renate) and Mike; sister-in-law/friend, Joann Stapleton; aunt, Mary Stapleton; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, and sister, Pat Bauman.

The family would like to thank the staff of Oakwood Villa for their wonderful care of Bear over the years.
