Victor "Vic" M. Hartmann, age 88, of Couderay, WI passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Vic was born on April 20, 1925 to the late Victor and Alyce (Reith) Hartmann in Rockford, Illinois. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in Rockford and then from Oregon State University with a degree in Business. Vic had a deep love for football - playing in high school, in college for Oregon State and was a high school football and basketball official for over 25 years for the Rockford area schools. On July 13, 1946, he married his childhood sweetheart, Marian McEntee, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockford. They lovingly spent their years together raising their children, being devoted grandparents, traveling, and being at their cabin.

He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Arena. Vic worked nearly 40 years at Cotta Transmission, retiring as plant superintendent in 1987. After his wife and family, his deep love was for his cabin on Blueberry Lake which he owned for over 50 years.

Vic's love for life, which he lived fully and robustly, will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marian; children, Kathleen (Tom) Morgan, Christine (Larry) Woelflin, and John (Brigid) Hartmann; grandchildren, Jessica (Josh) Weiss, Theresa (Joe Hansen) Morgan, Sara Woelflin, Derek Woelflin, Jeffrey Hartmann, Bradley Hartmann, Heidi Hartmann; great grandchildren, Hans, Silas, Griffin Weiss; sister, Mary Louise Partoll; many other family members and friends.

Victor was preceded in death by his son, Michael; brother, John Hartmann.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
