Melanie Joy Pantzlaff, age 33, of Eau Claire was called to her heavenly home by her Savior on Thursday, July 14, 2016 after a 6 year courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at AGrace Hospice in Madison, WI with her loving family by her side.

Melanie was born on July 2, 1983 in Eau Claire to David and Joyce (Carey) Pantzlaff. She attended Robbins Elementary and South Middle School before graduating from Eau Claire Memorial High School. She was employed at various food service companies, Hand-in-Hand Day Care, Thinking Publications, and Source Code Systems. She also volunteered at United Way.

Melanie had a warm, loving heart and was always kind, polite, and gracious. Her most used words seemed to be "Thank You." Her strong will, fueled by her faith in God, was evident as she fought her disease with very little complaint.

Interacting with family and friends at gatherings and communicating through her electronic devices was a high priority for Melanie, and she loved helping to baby sit her niece and nephews. Music was also a big part of Melanie's life, and she especially enjoyed her favorite country singer Carrie Underwood by attending numerous concerts.

Melanie is survived by her parents, David and Joyce; brother, Matthew (Beth) Pantzlaff; grandmother, Ruth Pantzlaff; nephews, Parker and Cooper; niece, Piper; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herbert Pantzlaff, Norbert and Grace Carey.

Melanie's family would like to extend special appreciation to all of the AGrace Hospice staff, Dr. Tom and the many staff at UW Health, and those at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
