Helen J. Borsheim, age 87, of Eau Claire died on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Center, Altoona, WI where she was a resident since August 2013.

Helen was born on February 19, 1926 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of the late Sigurd and Louise (Rosette) Wik. She lived on a farm with her parents in St. Hilaire, MN. After graduation, she moved to Thief River Falls, MN. While working at the Bridgeman's Creamery she met and later married her husband, Kenneth A. Borsheim, on August 24, 1946. In April of 1955, they moved to Eau Claire, WI.

Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1955. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining especially for her family at Christmas. She was an avid card player, especially bridge. Being mostly a stay at home mother, she found time to sell Avon, bowl with her team "The Ladybirds", hostess at Sambo's restaurant, and work at Ashbaugh Printing. The winter was spent snow birding in Florida and summers at their cottage in northern Minnesota where she enjoyed playing smear with all her "Lake Friends." She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

A special thanks to all the people that have helped Mom through her journey.

Helen is survived by her brother, Stanley of Thief River Falls, MN; sons, David (special friend, Maureen) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Steven (Vicki) of Cleghorn, WI, and Thomas (Jackie) of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Ben (Karla) Borsheim, Andy (Tammy) Borsheim, Sara (Marc) Talleux, Rory (Beth) Borsheim, Lindsey (Rob) Borsheim, and Kelsey (Sam) Borsheim; great grandchildren, Ethan, Kaianna, Easton, Garrison, Jersey, and Lucie.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, Kenneth; brothers, Leonard and Robert.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
