We encourage you to send a condolence using the tab to the left. But also please send a card, note or letter including a favorite memory or story of LaDonna. You may forward it to the funeral home if you do not know the family address.

LaDonna F. Exe, age 88, died on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Beehive Memory Care Home in Eau Claire, WI from complications of COVID-19.

She was born on January 17, 1932 to the late Alfred and Edith (Hall) King in Rochester, MN. She lived in the rural Byron area most of her life, attending Byron schools through graduation. On December 15, 1951, LaDonna married Frank Exe. After Frank's death in 2018, she moved to Eau Claire to be near her daughter.

LaDonna was a kind, devoted wife, mother and caregiver. She excelled in cooking, baking, gardening, preserving foods, sewing and quilting. She loved outdoor activities: fishing, camping, hiking and cross country skiing. She and Frank loved dancing and went to many polka fests with their many polka friends.

After her nest was empty, she worked at Reynolds Wholesale and also assisted others with keeping their household clean and organized. She had an unstoppable work ethic, beginning as a child during the Depression doing farm chores and keeping up the home place so her parents could both work outside of their home to make ends meet.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Rita) of Rushford, MN, Glenn of Pine Island, MN and Cheryl Ristau (Dennis) of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Angie, Travis, Adam, Kevin, Eric, Nikki, Brad, Stacey; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; her in laws with whom she shared a very close relationship; many other family members and friends.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; siblings, Arleta (Pat) Miller and Clifton (Mamie) King; and daughter-in-law, Terri.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
