Alice Fischer passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the age of 83. She was born in 1935 in Wausau, WI to the late Arnold and Gladys Weinkauf. She graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in Nursing and spent her career caring for others.  In 1958, she met and married the love of her life, Duane Fischer, who later became a history professor for many years at UW-Eau Claire. They lived most of their lives together in the Third Ward, enjoying the neighborhood and many friends along the way.

Alice was a proud mother and always had a sparkle in her eyes when talking about her family. She was able to spend much of her retirement years watching her grandchildren grow up.

She is survived by her children, Kurt (Lesley) Fischer of Eau Claire, Mary (Frank) Christ of Dallas, GA, and Mike (Lynda Lacina) of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Max and Zoe Fischer and Carleigh and Frankie Christ; brother, Don (Sue) Weinkauf; sister, Grace Allen; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Duane; brother, Arnold Weinkauf; sister-in-law, Beverly (Lester) Kallberg; and brother-in-law, Glen Fischer.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Chippewa Manor for their care during the past few months.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
