Mike's life was celebrated with a small private ceremony at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington, Wisconsin.

Donald "Mike" Michael McCarty, age 89, of Eau Claire, was called home on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Mike was born to the late Robert and Bertha McCarty in New Auburn, Wisconsin and was the youngest of 4 boys. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, whom he married on October 6, 1956. Together they built a life in Eau Claire where they raised their family. Mike built a career at Wisconsin Bell Telephone where he retired as an engineer in 1991 after 34 years.

Mike was a great family man and a loving father. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Stemberger of Falls Church, Virginia. Mike is survived by his son, Kevin (Michelle) McCarty of Eau Claire and son-in-law, Ed Stemberger of Falls Church, Virginia.

Grandpa and great grandpa were titles he took much pride in. He is survived by his grandchildren, Ryan McCarty, Tahlyr (Shane) McCarty, Claire Stemberger, and Lily Stemberger; and five great grandchildren.
