Jane Marie Schuring, age 83, formerly of Eau Claire, died on Thursday, March 6, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family.

Born to the late Jack and Dorothy (Hoff) McCorison in Marshfield, WI on August 4, 1941, Jane's young childhood was spent in several places: a cabin in Namekagon while her dad logged, a house in the tiny hamlet of Curtis near the family's general store, and finally, the town of Owen, where her mother became a teacher just as Jane eventually would.

In 1959, Jane graduated from Owen-Withee High School. After living in Montana, where her daughter, Laura, was born, and Spain, where her son, John, was born, she returned to Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.

Jane spent most of her life in the Eau Claire area. She raised her children in Seymour and taught third grade for 26 years in a sunny, book-filled classroom in rural Cleghorn. She was a passionate reader, book collector, and lifelong learner. She spent many summers as a bus tour travel guide, guiding tours that explored the U.S. and Canada.

On February 19, 1994, Jane and Kenneth Schuring married and celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary last month. Their life in Honey Valley, south of Eau Claire, was a 20-acre sanctuary of woodlands, wildlife, and peace. Jane tended enormous gardens and enjoyed her backyard pool during their many years of retirement.

Jane and Ken moved to Harbor Crossing in May 2024 to be closer to family. While there, Jane was supported by its loving staff, residents, and beloved support dog, Bear. While White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was not her lifelong home, she was able to spend her final months happily enjoying the company of her loving husband and family.

Jane's devotion to her family was immeasurable. She cherished and collected photos of every event and every new child. She coveted long phone conversations with her grandchildren and planned family holidays for weeks. Jane's family will miss their one-of-a-kind Jane, Mom, and Gramma Jane as they move forward with their lives touched by her generous love.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Schuring; their four children, Laura Wall, John Wall (Jojene Bell), Tim (Karen) Schuring, and Todd (Johanna) Schuring; as well as 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
