![]() Elaine C. Schultz, 95, of Eau Claire, passed peacefully into her eternal heavenly home on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Elaine was born in July 1931 to the late James and Margaret Hamlin in Merrill, Wisconsin, where she grew up. Elaine graduated from Merrill High School in 1949 and received her nursing degree from Columbia College of Nursing in Milwaukee in 1952. In April of 1954, Elaine was united in marriage to Thomas Schultz in Merrill. She worked as an R.N. for most of her adult life in various places, and she retired as Director of Nurses at the Augusta Area Nursing Home in 1978. But anyone who is related to a nurse knows that they never truly retire. Her nursing continued long after retirement as she provided care for her family, her many friends, and her dear neighbors at the London Square Apartments. She gave generously to all in need of her skills, time, energy, and love. Elaine was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her life on earth closely resembled the Proverbs 31 woman described in Scripture. She has truly been making the world a better place since 1931. Elaine enjoyed the outdoors: fishing, camping, watching the birds (especially the hummers), and gardening. She loved working on puzzles, calling bingo, and cheering on the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. She especially loved being with her family. Her grands and great-grands would always put a big smile on her face! In her final weeks of life, Elaine and her family were helped greatly by so many folks from St Croix Hospice, especially Kari, Ellie, Miranda, Cassie, Karl, and Sarah (music therapy-harp). She also enjoyed many visits by the wonderful Threshold Singers. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! She will be deeply missed by her children, Craig (Meg) Schultz and Jenny (Mike) Ball; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Ball, Megan (Kyle) Witek, Gretchen (Corey) Pederson, and Rachel (Shane) Shepherd; great grandchildren, Brielle and Brinley Ball, Henry, Charlie and Addie Witek, Piper and Emma Pederson, and Shane Atticus Shepherd; sisters, Eunice Langlois and Claudia Roberts; brothers, William (Mary Lou) Hamlin and Don (Liz) Hamlin; sister-in-law, Lois Hamlin; along with many dear nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Schultz; an unnamed infant; infant son, Eric Schultz; her parents; sisters, Lorraine (Robert) Liberty, Alice Jane (James) O'Day, Esther (Vernon) Wittkop, and Margaret (Tony) Robl; brothers, Edmund (Beatrice) Hamlin, James Hamlin, Joseph (Lucy) Hamlin, Reid Hamlin and Wayne Hamlin; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Myrtle Schultz; sister- and brothers-in-law, Joan (Ned) Petersen, James Roberts, Jack Langlois, and Joe Latto. |
