James "Jim" LaMont Page, age 87, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Grace Lutheran River Pines long-term care in Altoona, WI.

Jim was born on October 17, 1938 in Eau Claire where he lived his entire life. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Grace Lutheran Church where he remained an active member for 87 years. He cherished wonderful experiences and the many friendships at Grace over the years where he served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, President of the Men of Grace, he helped lead father-child retreats at Luther Park over Father's Day weekends and in the 1960's he started the Grace Lutheran softball team.

Many summer days were spent playing slow pitch softball throughout the mid-west with an array of teams such as Kerm's Super Foods. Many life-long friendships were made at the softball fields while opponents struggled to hit his pitching. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and into adulthood where he bowled in leagues at Wagner's and with faculty/staff at the UWEC Davies Center.

A graduate of Eau Claire High School in 1957, Jim continued to join a group of '57 classmates for lunch in their retirement years. Jim met Bev Nelson through mutual friends and they were married on August 1, 1964 at Grace Lutheran. They were blessed with two children, Jodi and Jim II.

He was employed at Peter's Meat Plant for 8 years until its closure where he then began working in Building Maintenance at UWEC in 1973 where he worked for 31 years. Retiring in 2004, Jim was recognized in the news for his remarkable attendance record of never using a sick day in 31 years. In addition, he also never used a sick day at Peter's Meats.

Over the years, Jim remained a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. He'd be seen riding his bike throughout the neighborhood often while smoking his pipe. He had the ability to talk with anyone and made the lives of others better by his sense of humor and genuine interest in other people.

He was proud of his daughter and son and their families. He adored his grandchildren and often took them to the Festival grocery store bakery for a morning donut and enjoyed attending their school events.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bev; daughter, Jodi (Jim) Schleusner; son, Jim II (Michelle); grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Alli, Benjamin, Abigail and Katherine; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Dan) Roth; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion (Olson) Page; in-laws, Bennie and Myrtle Nelson; aunt, Ollie Lintz; uncles, Len and Elmer Olson; and many loving relatives.

We entrust a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and child of God to his Heavenly home among the saints in glory.
