![]() Lucille G. (Knutson) Whipple, age 90, of Eau Claire died on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Dove Healthcare - West. Lucy was born on November 15, 1922 to the late Martin and Olga (Garlie) Knutson in Outlook, Montana. On October 18, 1947, she married the love of her life, James B. Whipple at Springbrook Lutheran Church in Springbrook, Wisconsin. Lucy was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church and the H.L.C.W. She enjoyed volunteering at Luther Hospital, gardening, and doing crafts. For many years, both Lucy and Jim were very active leaders with the Boy Scouts of America being the first couple to receive the Bridgebuilder Award. Lucy was also a leader with the Campfire Girls and Girl Scouts of America. She liked attending the Army Air Corp reunions with Jim, camping and spending weekends at the cottage. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim; children, Mary (Gary) Warner of Turtle Lake, Robin (Jim) Lloyd of West Branch, IA, Dale (Kris) Whipple of Marshfield; grandchildren, Elise (Shawn) Owens, Joshua (Jeni) Hanson, Stephanie (Mario) Cacioppo, Shauna (Chad) Hirsch, Nicolas and Amanda Whipple; step grandchildren, Angela and Jason Lloyd; great grandchildren, Sophia, Samuel, Cooper, Gavin, Isabella, Trever, Skyler, Christian, and Dominic; brother, Martin "Sonny" (Joann) Knutson of Eau Claire; sisters, Bernice Borton of Eau Claire, (her twin) Louise Sorenson of Mpls, MN, Lenora (Orvin) Wollum of Eau Claire; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lucy was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Knutson; and brothers, Marvin and Ervin Knutson; great granddaughters, Bridgette Owens and Maya Cacioppo. |
