Steven J. Reynolds, age 73, of Eau Claire, WI passed away March 11, 2020 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer).

Steven was born September 28, 1946 in Mora, MN to the late Ralph and Grace (Youngdahl) Reynolds. He grew up in the Mora area attending Coin Elementary and Mora High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years before moving to Minneapolis MN where he worked for Packard Bell. It was while living there he met the love of his life, Carol Kowalczyk. He worked up the courage to ask her to his company Christmas party, they were married six months later on June 8, 1970, by the justice of peace behind a motorcycle shop in Mora, MN. They would proudly share that story for the next 34 years. He graciously took on the role of step-father to Brenda and the couple welcomed their daughter, Jennifer, two years later.

Together they moved their family to Blair, WI where they owned and operated Reynolds TV.  After closing up shop, they moved to Rochester, MN where he worked for IBM, then to Corvallis, OR and worked for Hewlett Packard, before settling in Eau Claire, WI. He retired from Medical Concepts in Maplewood, MN in 2011.

Steven was a jack of all trades and could fix anything, you could usually find him working in his garage. He enjoyed woodworking, electronics repair, remodeling homes and picking up junk (or treasures, rather) at garage sales. He looked forward to having his yearly garage sale. Steven was an avid reader; in his down time, you could usually find him in his favorite chair with a book in his hand. Dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed watching movies, especially war movies and westerns; we're pretty sure he had seen True Grit at least a million times. He was always up for a car ride and usually took the long way to where he was going; insisting it was a short cut. He had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. He enjoyed music, especially live music while having a glass of wine at a local vineyard with his special friend.

Steven had a special bond with his grandson, Matthew. They helped each other out a lot over the years and at times were inseparable. Matt was his best friend and, in the end, a loyal caregiver and did his best to keep Steven out of trouble.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Gary) Frueh, Eau Claire, WI and Brenda Boe, River Falls, WI; grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds, Eau Claire, WI, Brandon (Madeline) Boe, Roberts, WI and Kaitlyn Boe, Winona, MN; brothers, Mike (Marlys) Reynolds, Ogilive, MN, Duane (Debbie) Reynolds, New Prague, MN, and Clark (Marti) Reynolds, Mora, MN; several sisters-and brothers-in-law; special friend, Kathy Michels, Chippewa Falls, WI and her family; and many other family members and friends.

In heaven Steven was greeted by his wife, Carol (March 11, 2004 - 16 years ago to the day); father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Zenita Kowalczyk; brothers, Dale and Daniel Reynolds; and niece, Kelly Reynolds.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
