Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday

Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls at a later date

Charles "Chuck" E. Peterson, age 77, of Lake Hallie passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital of ongoing heart problems.

He was born in Eau Claire on August 7, 1940 to the late Ellsworth and Esther (Smith) Peterson. He graduated from Chi Hi in 1958 and joined the Army Corps of Engineers the same year, serving from 1958 - 1961. Most of his service was in Germany and France. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Chippewa Valley spending most of his life in Lake Hallie. He married Diane E. Mattison in 1962 and they were together nearly 56 years. He worked a number of years at Uniroyal.

Chuck enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Packers and Brewers. He excelled at woodworking and could fix or repair anything. He was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather and adored his two great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Mark (Deb) of Lake Hallie and Shawn (Karen) of Fountain Hills, AZ; grandchildren, Chris (Nicole) of Lake Hallie and Josh (Heather) of Eau Claire; great grandchildren, Haydn and Mason; sisters, Elaine Modl, Audrey Erickson and Barbara (Leroy) Rosman all of Eau Claire; brothers, Richard R. (Deborah) Peterson of Eau Claire and Ellsworth Peterson of King, WI; sisters-in-law, Sharon Hartl of Lake Hallie, Linda Bush of Eau Claire, Cheryl Mattison of Elk Mound, and Gail Mattison of Altoona; brother-in-law, Dale Heintz of Eau Claire; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eunice Brusen, Irene Peterson, Patricia Peterson, Jeanne Luckman, and Connie Heintz; brothers, Barry and Larry Peterson; sister-in-law, Fay Peterson; brothers-in-law, Bob Modl, Harland (Audrey) Mattison, Darrel "Matt" Mattison, Arlen Hartl, and Charles "Chick" Bush.
