Gary M. Gunderson, age 84, of Eau Claire passed away at his home on Sunday, March 20, 2016.

Gary was born on July 7, 1931 to the late Erling and Adeline (Jacobson) Gunderson in Eau Claire. Gary was a lifelong resident of Eau Claire graduating from Eau Claire High School in 1949. He proudly served our country as part of the Navy Air Wing as a mechanic during the Korean War. He and his family were charter members of Hope Lutheran Church where in June of 1957, he married Patricia Johnson.

He worked as foreman with Ashbaugh Printing for more than 40 years. In June of 1996, he was able to fulfill his dream of retiring at lake - for a little while. The love of watching his granddaughters sporting events drew him back to Eau Claire. Over the years, he enjoyed camping all over Northern Wisconsin, spending time hunting, and fishing. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, but was loved by his family regardless.

Gary is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Greg Gunderson (Debbie Bensen) of Deep Haven, MN, Pam (Terry) Bechel and Eric (Barbara) Gunderson both of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Erin Kienbaum, Ellen Bechel, Alyssa and Megan Gunderson; great granddaughter, Olive; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Conrad (Jana); mother-and father-in-law, Ruth and Glen Johnson.
