Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Hope Lutheran Church (corner of Starr Ave. and Eddy Lane) with the Reverend Rick Lund officiating

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church and also 1 hour prior to service

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Church

 

Lois E. Stokes, age 87, of Eau Claire died on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Dove Healthcare - West.

Lois was born on August 21, 1926 to the late Roy and Elise (Nelson) Zahn in St. Cloud, Minnesota. On February 22, 1947 she married Rae A. Stokes in Eau Claire. She was a devoted wife and mother taking pride in raising her children and being a homemaker. When the kids were older she enjoyed working at the bookstore downtown and at Samuelson's. Lois was a faithful servant of her Lord and a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, served on many boards and was a proud member of the choir for over 50 years. She loved singing at various events with the Hope Trio which included Elaine Klund and Norene Holm.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Duane) Kastel of Eau Claire; son, Larry (Sandy) Stokes of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Scott (Amanda) Kastel, Dan Kastel and Erin (Bob) Boerschel, Amber (Brett) Shevik, and Laura Stokes (fiancé, Andy Peterson); great grandchildren, Kylie, Hunter, Caleb, Derek, Ayla; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rae, and brother, Roger Zahn.
