William "Bill" Dresden, age 101, continued on his life's journey from Chippewa Falls to his eternal heavenly reward on Thursday, August 2, 2018.

Bill was born on January 11, 1917 to the late William "Will" and Catherine "Kate" (nee Schill) Dresden in Mineral Point, WI, the sixth of seven children. After graduating from high school in 1935, Bill worked with his older brother, Bob, in a window repair business. Bob encouraged Bill to enroll at Stout Institute in Menomonie, which he did in 1938. It was there he met his wife of 53 years, Frances R. (Hartung) Dresden.

Bill answered the call to enlist in the Army Air Corps in 1941 "for one year." After Pearl Harbor, that enlistment became a five year commitment with Bill spending the last part of his service in the China India Burma Theater building roads and landing strips in the jungle.

In 1946, Bill returned to Stout, finishing his degree in 1947. Bill was a General Contractor in the Durand area until establishing Dresden's Windows and Awnings in Eau Claire in 1954. Bill continued with custom window and awning work into his 90's. After Fran's death, Bill was also blessed with a marriage of fifteen years to Lorraine (Moore/Daubner) Dresden, bringing a second wave of happiness and new extended family members. Bill will be remembered for his work ethic, sense of humor, positive attitude, graciousness, quiet faith and fairly good health for most of his 101 years.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Mary (David) Badger of Pequot Lakes, MN and Catherine (William) McCann of Eau Claire; special foster daughter, Beverly Gainor of Richland Center, WI; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; Lorraine's family: daughter, Janet (John) Garrett of Jacksboro, TN; sons, Bill (Linda) Daubner of Park Falls, WI and Wayne (Barbara) Daubner of Stoughton, WI; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister-in-law, Shirley Daubner and family of Ft. Meyers, FL; and special niece, Ellen (Calvin) Butts of Hager City, WI; all who became family to Bill without reservation.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (1998); wife, Lorraine (2016); daughter, Patricia Prock (2003); sisters, Marie (Carl King, Sr./Vince DeMuth), Rose (Carl) Hall and Ruth (Bert) Smith; brothers, Robert (Ann), John Bernard (Mildred), and Urban P. Dresden. Bill was also preceded in death by both Frances' and Lorraine's parents, brothers, sisters, and other family members.

The family would like to thank to the staff of the Chippewa Manor Residential Assisted Living and the Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation facilities for their care and friendship to Bill. Also, enough can never be said about the attention provided to Bill by his grandson, Daniel McCann.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
