A simple, devout Christian mother and homemaker, Adele A. Carlson (Hamann), 89, of Eau Claire, WI died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Her passing came at the same hour of her husband Arthur's death on June 27, 2016 and on her mother "Annie's" birthday in 1899.

Adele Ann Hamann was born August 2, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Clarence and Anna (Langbehn) Hamann. After graduation from Gary Tolleston High School, she married her neighborhood sweetheart "Artie" on September 28, 1946 after he returned from military service during World War II.

Adele's family was her priority, her world. They would raise three sons, keeping them involved in a variety of church, school, sport and community activities. As a family they enjoyed reunions and vacations to their relatives' Midwest homes. The north woods and lakes of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan were frequent destinations.

After moving to Eau Claire, they joined their beloved Peace Lutheran Church and remained faithful members for more than 40 years. After Art's retirement they traveled around the country, and spent their summers at the family cabin in Washburn county.

Survivors include sons, David P. (Susan) Carlson of Eau Claire, Richard L. (Dorothy) Carlson of Rose, OK, and Daniel J. (Darlene) Carlson of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Lemler of Hudson, WI, Heidi (Marshall) Grange of Lakeville, MN, Michael (Samantha) Carlson, Michelle Carlson, both of Crown Point, IN, and Robin (Keith) Cunningham of Rose, OK; great grandchildren, Gabby, Savannah, Haylee, Grace, Michael Jr., Ava, Wade and Audra; sisters-in-law, Betty Hamann of McMurray, PA and Martha Hamann of Overland Park, KS, and other relatives and friends.

Although family was scattered around the country, Adele made a habit through the years of keeping in touch through letters. She strived to keep family united. She came from a humble background and all her life was resourceful. Her family could always count on a meal and cake. In everything she provided well.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Willard, Robert and Paul; and a sister, Helen.

The family extends sincere appreciation for the medical community's loving care over the many years, Drs. Tamara Slinkard, David Hesse, Richard Daniels, and in her final days, 6th Floor staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and neighborly residents and management at St. Francis Apartments of Eau Claire.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
