Dennis D. Champion, age 72, of Menomonie passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Eau Claire after a short battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Dennis was born on February 26, 1942 in Eau Claire, WI. The highlights of his life were his two daughters, Peggy and Pamela and spending time with his grandchildren. He owned a Phillips 66 gas station with his father, John, in New Brighton, MN, then moving to Menomonie, WI where he owned Denny's T.V. and Appliance for 23 years, which he is well known for his detail to serving his customers with pride and utmost satisfaction. He was an avid race enthusiast; drag racing, dirt track, go-cart racing with his son-in-laws, a lead mechanic for Larry Prochnow Racing in Menomonie, and following NASCAR faithfully. Camping with family and friends were special times and laughs for all. Dennis was a jack-of-all-trades, family and friends had a motto for him: "If Denny can't fix it, it ain't broke." Dennis's smart wit, humor and sense of adventure will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Peggy (Randy) Christopherson of Spooner, WI and Pamela (John) Thibado of Rogers, MN and their mother, Carol Champion; grandchildren, Jordan, Alexander, Lauren, and Zachary; sister, Audrey (John) Wisemiller; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys (Kruger) Champion; brothers, Richard and Darrel Champion; and grandson, Adam Thibado.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
