Aubert "Aubie" House, age 81, of Eau Claire died on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Dove Health Care - West in Eau Claire.

On December 2, 1933, Aubert was born to the late Harold and Anga (Johnson) House in Eau Claire where he was raised. "Aubie" as he was known, graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1953. He served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. After his honorable discharge, he married Marie Dimoplon in New York, NY.

Aubie was branch manager for Bake-Rite Baking Company before becoming district sales representative for McCormick-Schilling Company. He ended his long sales career in 1998 after retiring from Fist Food Brokerage Company.

He served two terms on the Eau Claire County Board of Supervisors. He served on various committee appointments such as Finance and Budget, Mental Health, and on the Advisory Board to the Eau Claire Guidance Clinic. He joined Hope Lutheran Church in 1971 and was a past member of the Board of Deacons. He also served as a PTA president for Sam Davey School and was a member of the Lake Hallie Sportsmen's Club.

Aubie loved Marie, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. They meant everything to him. He enjoyed his hobby farm, "Strawberry Hills" north of the airport, where he worked as a teenager and later with his young family. Good work ethics and family pride, which he instilled in his children, meant a lot to him. At the same time, it was extremely important to Aub and Marie that their children get a good education and participate in school activities.

Aub and his family always looked forward to their many fishing trips each summer on Red Cedar and Hemlock Lakes near Rice Lake. Aub could hardly wait for the fall deer hunting trips where he would join with his sons, brothers and nephews at the deer camp near Hayward.

During his retirement years, he enjoyed growing flowers and creating his own special outdoor flower trees. His great sense of humor, hospitality, and ability to get along with people were his greatest strengths.

Aubie is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Chuck) Brenner; sons, George (Diane), Edward (Julie), and William (Wendy) House; grandchildren, Sarah, Carolyn (Ben) Brosch, Erin, Whitney, Lindsey, Kailey, Caleb, Abigail, Joshua, Christopher, and Lauren House; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Owen and Faithe; brothers, Truman, James (Harriet), and Michael House; sisters, Viola Rowland, Greta (Jack) Meyers and Velda (Lawrence) Lee; sisters-in-law, Mavis, Betty, and Elizabeth House and Judy Kranz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Aubie was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marie; brothers, Lamar, Harold Jr., Roger, Gerald, and Delton; sisters, Ione Kriese, Twila Phelan, and Verda House.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
