Joyce R. Whirry, age 66, of Eau Claire passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at home with her family at her side.

Joyce was born on October 13, 1949 to the late Leo and Mary (Tobola) Hedler. She was raised in Thorp graduating with the class of 1967. Joyce was united in marriage on September 8, 1973 to Vernon Whirry at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Thorp. They resided in Eau Claire where Joyce worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years until her retirement in 2010. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

To her family and friends, Joyce will be remembered for her cheerful enthusiasm, optimistic disposition, and loving nature. She enjoyed volunteering and was always willing to help out family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Vernon; children, Steven (Jeanne) Whirry, Sara Whirry, Scott Whirry, and Stephanie (Nathan) Derks; sister, Mary Jane (Larry) Ciolkosz; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings, Jerome Hedler, Joan Miller, Jacqueline Soli, and Janet Solie.
