Leota "Lee" K. (King) Dawald, age 94, of Eau Claire passed away at Grace Willowbrook with family present on Sunday, September 04, 2016.

Lee was born June 15, 1922 in Ziebach County, South Dakota, the daughter of the late John George King and Stella Mae Billeter. Leota married Roman Gordon Dawald September 9, 1950 in Eau Claire, WI. She attended a one room country school through 7th grade. From 7th grade through high school she boarded with a family, working after school and weekends to pay for her room and board.

Over the years, Lee was employed in various jobs, including as a teacher in a one-room school. During WWII she traveled to Oregon to work in an ammunition factory as a WOW. Upon returning to the Midwest, Lee worked in Minneapolis where she met Roman. They married in Eau Claire, where they resided and raised their family. She was a stay at home mother until she was hired by Roberts Farmhouse Foods in Eau Claire as a supervisor in the Accounts Receivable Dept.

She was an avid fan and shareholder of the Green Bay Packers; Brett Favre was her favorite player. Lee possessed a great love for hand-made crafts, such as embroidery, plastic canvas, card making, ceramics and sewing. She had a good sense of humor which was especially evident when playing board games with family members at holiday times. She enjoyed playing Solitare on her computer. Lee also authored two family genealogy books, publishing them herself. She enjoyed flower gardening and observing wildlife; with a special love of birds.

The family extends a special thank you to Grace Willowbrook and Mayo Hospice Program for the compassionate care of their mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Stafford) Caul of Beaver Dam; son, Greg (Kathy) Dawald of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Kim) Caul, Travis (Tara) Caul, Ryan (Pam) Dawald, Adam Dawald, Jared Dawald, Danielle Dawald; great grandchildren, John David and Luke Caul, Brennan, Elianna and Maddox Caul, Parker and Chase Dawald; many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman G.; brothers and sisters, Ruth Picker, Esther Young, Harry King, Florence Picker, Stella Boldt, Ruby King, George King and Susan King.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
