Janice R. Owen, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Eau Claire.

She was born on August 4, 1927 to the late Lyle and Elsie (Brake) Cook in Loyal, Wisconsin. Janice grew up in the Loyal area and graduated from Loyal High School. After attending secretarial school, she worked in the area for various companies such as Hobbs Supply and Phoenix Steel. When the kids were older, she worked at Presto Industries. On September 17, 1949, she married the love of her life, Harry Owen.

Janice enjoyed crafting, planting flowers and tending her garden, camping and fishing with family, reading, listening to music and being active in church. Throughout the years they traveled with the kids throughout the U.S. and later she took many bus tours with Harry.

Spending time with her family and friends was important: especially her grandchildren and special groups of ladies - the Red Hats, church circles and card clubs. Janice will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Janice is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry; daughter, Debra Gregerson; son, Steven Owen; grandchildren, Amber (Collin) Dahl, Avril (Jason) Wood, Sarah (Jon) Tezelde, Chris, Aaron (Natalie), Elizabeth, Rosa, and Josiah Owen; great grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Courtney, Lex, Dagen, Shyanne; sister-in-law, Joyce; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles (Linda), Emery, Francis (Bertha), Loraine (Kathleen) Cook.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
