Dennis A. Martin, age 64, passed away at home on Saturday, February 8, 2014 with family and friends at his side.

Dennis will be remembered as a man who always put his family first and completed all tasks with pride and integrity. His passions included: home projects, cribbage, history, acting in Cape Cod community theater, and sailing with the Lake Wissota Yacht Club. He was an extremely grateful man and felt most content with the simple pleasures of life - spending time with his family. Dennis could tell a good story and left all he met with a word of thanks and a laugh. Dennis cherished his Irish heritage most recently spending time at his family homestead in County Galway, Ireland, relishing the experience of having a "pint of the Guinness" as fresh as you can get it.

He took pride in his life's work as an air traffic controller (Milwaukee and Las Vegas), a partner in Yankee Clipper Landscaping, Chatham, MA., and in facilities repair at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. He was a steadfast union man and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country in Vietnam.

Above all else, he cherished his family. He is survived by wife, Janis; children, Joe of Eau Claire, Jaime (AJ Umphlett) of Dickinson, ND and Patti (Bryce Lynn) of Appleton; grandchildren, Bradyn, Savannah, and Sophia Martin of Winona, MN; sisters, Nancy Reisner (John) of Naples, FL, Christopher Martin (Francine Warwick) of Chapel Hill, NC, Jill Ottow (John) Fort Atkinson, WI, and Rosemary Martin (Albert LaPlante) of Marstons Mills, MA; his dear friends that were at his side, John Ottow and John Meister of Lexington, VA and nephew, Robert Reisner of Mashpee, Ma. He had special affection for his mother-in-law, Dorothy Ottow of Fort Atkinson, WI; and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Martin.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
