He proudly served our county in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 305. After completing 2 years of college, he worked as a pressman for Johnson Printing. Jim loved working with wood making many wonderful pieces over the years for family, friends and his church. He was a longtime, active member of Hope Lutheran Church serving on councils and the building/grounds crew.

For over 60 years, both Jim and Lucy were very active in the Boy Scouts for which Jim received many awards including: the Silver Beaver Award, District Award of Merit, Lamb Award, Scout Masters Award, Recycling Award and he and Lucy were the first couple to receive the Bridgebuilder Award. Throughout the years Jim and Lucy attended many Air Corp reunions together, enjoyed camping and spending time at the cottage with family and friends. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and on most weekends you could find him hunting or fishing. He will be deeply missed by many including his loving family and dear friends.

Jim is survived by his children, Mary (Gary) Warner of Turtle Lake, Robin (Jim) Lloyd of West Branch, IA, and Dale (Kris) Whipple of Marshfield; grandchildren, Elise (Shawn) Owens, Joshua (Jeni) Hanson, Stephanie (Mario) Cacioppo, Shauna (Chad) Hirsch, Nicolas (Emily) Whipple and Amanda Whipple; great grandchildren, Sophia, Samuel, Cooper, Gavin, Isabella, Trever, Skyler, Christian, and Dominic; step grandchildren, Angela and Jason Lloyd; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
