Patricia A. Kaufman, age 83, of Eau Claire passed away at her home on Monday, November 3, 2014.

She was born on February 10, 1931 to the late James and Lillian (Bahr) Newton in Eau Claire. In 1954, she married Norman Kaufman and lived in Eau Claire together raising their two sons.

Pat was an avid bridge player for many years achieving the level of grandmaster. She was very active in the community becoming the first woman elected to the Eau Claire County Board and the first woman hired at the Eau Claire Post Office. After 47 years of hard work, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a B.A. Degree in History. She inspired many to chase their dreams.

She lives on through her sons, James (Tracey) and Joseph (Elizabeth); sister, Barbara (Bob) Larson; brother, James Newton; grandchildren, Kelsey, Hayley, Jared (Jill), Justin (Alyssa), Alyssa, and Jordan Kaufman; great grandchild, Kenley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 1982.

Pat's family would like to thank Ruby Gravrok and family for their helping care of Pat over the last year.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
