Yvonne "Vonnie" L. Field, age 88, of Eau Claire died on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at home with family by her side.

Vonnie was born in 1928 to the late James and Annette (Olson) Hillestad in Eau Claire. She lived most of her life in Eau Claire graduating in 1946 from Eau Claire High School. Following graduation, she was employed by Uniroyal in the business office.

On January 14, 1950, she married Robert Field at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She had 3 children and at that time became a stay at home mom working occasionally out of her home scheduling health screenings for various life insurance companies.

Vonnie and Bob spent the spring, summer and fall months living at the cottage on Popple Lake near Jim Falls. They loved sharing the summer holidays and birthdays with family and friends at the cottage. She and Bob (and the gang with Chippewa Trails) enjoyed getting out of the harsh winters months of January and February by going to Daytona Beach, FL. They would return for a week to two before traveling to the Hale Koa Hotel on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii - which they were able to do 22 times.

She was a longtime, very active member of Hope Lutheran Church serving as the church librarian as well holding various positions with HLCW, teaching Sunday school, attending bible study with Mary's Circle and working with the Quilting group for many years until her health would no longer permit it. When the kids were young, Vonnie served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts as well as a Girl Scout Leader. Vonnie loved to knit, crochet, read, and garden. Her loving spirit and gentle ways will be sadly missed.

Vonnie is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Bob; sons, Gary (Kathy) and Thomas (Inna); daughter, Bonita (Kevin) Roach; grandchildren, Bryan (Melisa) Field, Joel (Lindsey) Field, Adam (Anna) Field, Evgeny "Zhenya" Polezhaev, Mark Roach, Jeff Roach, Brittany (Jessie) Ray, Erin Roach, and Eric Roach; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Ethan, Colleen, Morgan, MacKenzie, Liberty, Carson, Peyton, Sawyer, and Brennan; sister, Elizabeth House; nephews; a niece; other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Hillestad; father- and mother-in-law, Edwin and Amelia Field; brothers-in-law, Gerald House and James Field; sister-in-law, Mary Field; nephew, Newell House; nieces, Cheryl Thomas and Brenda Capozzi.
