Norman O. Solberg died peacefully at home on January 24, 2015 one day shy of his 92nd birthday.

He was born on January 25, 1923 to the late Emil and Mabel (Gilbert) Solberg in Eau Claire. After graduating from Eau Claire High School, Norm proudly served his country during WWII from 1942-45 in the U.S. Army Infantry 103rd Division being stationed in Germany, France, and Austria, and participating in the Battle of the Bulge.

On September 23, 1945, he married Arlene Erickson and they were married for 69 years. Norm started working at Tender Krust Bakery as a junior in high school. He continued working in the bakery business for 50 years and served as Vice President and General Manager in charge of three Holsom bakeries until retirement in 1986.

Everyone loved to come to Norm and Arlene's home as they were gracious and generous hosts. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, fishing, and deer hunting. During retirement, summers were spent at their cabin at Six Lakes Resort in Chetek and winters in Inverness, Florida.

He was a member of the Masonic Order of Shriners, Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, First Lutheran Church, and a couples card club for over 50 years.

Norman is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Diane (Gary) Peterson of Rice Lake, Lynne (Mike) Lucente of Vancouver, WA, and Richard (Kathie) Solberg of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Jessica (Greg) Zeman of Eau Claire, K.C. Peterson of Rice Lake, Linda Raaen of Indianapolis, IN, Bryan (Sue) Lucente of Kalama, WA, Tony (Angela) Lucente of Vancouver, WA, Nick (Sam) Solberg of Eau Claire and Ethan Solberg of Eau Claire; great-grandchildren, Skyler Zeman, Aaliyah Peterson, Alex and Kate Raaen, Jonah, Jevan, and Arionna Lucente; brother, Lamoine (Jackie) Solberg; sisters, Jeanann (Lamoine) Stone and Jeanine Helwig; and sister-in-law, Leatrice Solberg, all of Eau Claire; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brother, Marvin Solberg; brothers-in-law, Jerome Wollum and Martin Helwig.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
