Dr. David "Doc" W. Kuehn was born in Eau Claire on July 13, 1938. He left us on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 of an apparent heart attack. He was a doctor of Podiatric Medicine graduating from the Illinois College of Podiatry in Chicago in 1962. He served his internship at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. David then began practicing in Eau Claire and did so for 41 years. On April 6, 1963, he married Priscilla Gram and they had one son, Scott David, who resides in Milwaukee.

David was at heart an artist and a sportsman. He and his wife enjoyed a wonderfully exciting outdoor life together - canoeing, hiking, backpacking, and hunting game in New Mexico and Manitoba, Canada. But more than anything, they loved hunting upland game birds with their beloved English Setters at their cabin on the east fork of the Chippewa River in Sawyer County.

He crafted beautiful muzzle loading rifles for himself and his many friends in the sporting world. But he was happiest when hunting in Buffalo County or just spending time in the woods with nature. One of his many hunting trips took him to the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia shooting a brown bear for which he received the Safari Club International Gold Award in 2001. David also hunted in New Mexico and Colorado for elk at their western cabin. He and his wife spent many happy weekends canoeing at their northern cabin. One of his favorite hunts was to Hudson Bay, Chesterfield Inlet, where he was one of the first white men to hunt caribou with an Inuit Guide.

David was extremely competitive, playing softball and paddleball well into his 50's and 60's. He and his partner, Charles Graaskamp, were the national champions of the old timers league in Michigan.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Priscilla; son, Scott and his wife, Luz Mery Valdes Kuehn; brother, Bruce (Jill); several nephews, other family members and many friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Sylvia (Wegner); and his brother, John.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
