Glenda I. (Olson) Jakobitz, age 73, of Eau Claire, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 after a 20 year battle with a rare lung disease.

She was born on July 31, 1942 to the late Glenn and Pauline (Tague) Olson in Fort Dodge, IA. On August 2, 1959, she married Gordon Jakobitz. Following Gordon's death in 1975, she raised their three children on her own while working for A.J. Robertson Distribution, EZ Gregory Distribution and then the Chippewa Valley Technical College until her retirement. She will be remembered for her passion for cleaning, but mostly for the time she enjoyed spending with her family and many dear friends.

Glenda is survived by her children, Valerie (Tom) Kleven, Lori (Pete) Stanley, and Randy (Miriam) Jakobitz; grandchildren, Sarah, Dustin (Nicole), Erica (Frankie), Danielle (Josh), Hanna, Mark, Ella, and Max; great grandchildren; Ryley, Grayson, Anthony, Lauren, Liam, and baby Stanley; sisters and brothers, Louanna (Don) Lehman, Paul (Teri) Olson, Phil Olson, Aleta (Mike) Barkhaus, and Anita Olson; brothers- and sisters-in-law; Arlen (Joyce) Jakobitz, Wayne (Marilee) Jakobitz, Carolyn Peters, and LaVonne Rummel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; in-laws, Wilfred and Ella Jakobitz; brother, Herb; brothers-in-law, Steve Peters and Rick Rummel; and nephew, Chad Rummel.

The family would like to thank her many wonderful friends for their kindness and thoughtfulness. We give a special thank you to her friends Diane Martin and Carol Ohm and her sisters, Louanna (Don) Lehman and Aleta (Mike) Barkhaus. We also thank the staff of St. Joseph's Hospice and the many wonderful nurses/staff of Dove West-Reflections who cared for our mother this past year. We will be forever grateful for giving us one more year with our mother.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
