Interment: Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington, Wisconsin

Robert E. Maher, age 92, of Eau Claire passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Robert was born on November 24, 1920 to the late Edward and Ida Mae (Miller) Maher in Waukesha, WI. He grew up in the Tomahawk area where he graduated from high school. After high school he worked in the CCC camps before joining the military. He proudly served our country in the Army during World War II. After his service, he moved to Eau Claire where he met Mavis Lee. On August 24, 1947, they were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

During his life he worked at Martin Motors, White Machine, St. Croix Heights Motel in Prescott, and with AAA for twenty five years. After his retirement from AAA, he worked part-time with L & M Mail Service. He was an avid sports fan cheering on the Brewers, Packers, and Matt Kenseth. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and gardening.

He is survived by his sons, Steve (Betsy) of Eau Claire and John (Debbie) of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Shannon (Ken), step granddaughter, Shar (John), great grandchildren, Owen, Aiden, Dillon, and Reid; other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis; step father, Jesse Herrington (who raised him); brother, Gene; and sister, Gin.
