Violet B. Leitzke, age 87, of Eau Claire passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Dove Healthcare-West in Eau Claire.

Violet was born June 18, 1929 the seventh of eight children to the late Otto and Cynthia (Young) Zillyette. She was raised in the Town of Siegl and attended Toutant School. On August 31, 1946, Violet was united in marriage to Willard "Bud" Leitzke in Chippewa Falls and they celebrated 70 years of marriage last year.

Violet loved to bake and worked in several bake shops in the area over the years. She enjoyed sharing her homemade baked goodies with neighbors, friends, and relatives, but making her candy cane cookies with her grandkids was a special joy. Violet also enjoyed flowers and gardening and looked forward to the big family gatherings when relatives came from the "west".

Violet is survived by her sons, Duane (Rosemary) and Darrell (Mary) Leitzke both of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Mike Leitzke of Amery, Lori Leitzke of New Richmond, and Lynn (Steve) Wallace of Shell Lake; great granddaughter, Autumn Sky Wallace; brother, Larry Zillyette of Montesano, WA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Bud on February 18 of this year; sisters, Lucille and Lorraine; and brothers, Kenneth, Clarence, Gordon, and Levi.

Our family would like to thank great people at Dove Healthcare-West for the kind and compassionate care given to our mother the last 2 and half years.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
