Memorial  Service: 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Immanuel  Lutheran Church (3214 Golf Road) with Reverend Jamie Brieske officiating

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday after the service

Interment:  Private family interment will be at a later date

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dan's name may be made to either the Alzheimer's Association, Special Olympics Wisconsin or to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

On Monday, February 6, 2017, Daniel J. Degen, age 52, of Eau Claire, WI passed away at his home.

Dan was born in South St. Paul, MN on April 21, 1964 to Robert and Ann Degen. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Bloomington, MN and also the Hennepin County Technical College with an associate's degree in Cabinetmaking. Dan married Susanne Stanonik in January 1990. Dan was a wonderful husband and devoted father who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Dan had many careers from bartending for the MN North Stars to cabinetmaker to manager at a local sporting goods store. He enjoyed coaching and attending his children's many youth sports including baseball, hockey and softball. Dan served as a board member for Eau Claire Youth Hockey and was a life-long hockey fan. Dan was a loyal friend with a big heart who found humor in every situation. He especially loved to spend time fishing with his friends on Lake Kabetogama, camping in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and listening to music.

Dan is survived by his wife, Susanne; children, Nicholas and Jennifer; parents, Robert and Ann; siblings, Heidi Middleton, Gretchen Hartman, Christopher (Maureen) Degen and Robert W. Degen; father and mother-in-law, Robert (Carol) Stanonik, brothers/sisters-in-law Marilyn (Tom) Carman and Michael (Rebecca) Stanonik. Dan always looked forward to seeing his many nieces and nephews, Jessica, Blake, Emma, Reed, Katherine, Samuel, Will and Hudson (whom he was especially proud to serve as his godfather). He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
