Carol K. Smith, age 60, of Eau Claire died on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Eau Claire surrounded by her family after losing her battle with cancer.

She was born on February 21, 1955 to the late Carl R. and Mavis (Huth) Dey in Shawano, WI. After graduating from high school, she attended and received her degree in psychology from UW-Eau Claire. She loved being with her family and grandkids, spending time at the cabin in Winter and cheering on her beloved Packer's - being the biggest (and loudest) armchair quarterback in the family. For many years Carol worked in the operations department with Menards in Eau Claire. Carol's friends referred to her as their "Florida Sunshine" due her warmth and love she shared with all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her husband, Michael of Eau Claire; sons, Nathan (Shonnie) of Augusta and Lucas Smith of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Kalli, Braylee, and Benjamin; sisters and brother, Carla (James) Seifert of Shawano, Kurt (Kathleen) Dey of Portage, Kathy (Gene) Braatz of Shawano, and Kristi (Craig) Kandler of Appleton; nieces and nephews, Jamie (Bob) Seifert-Meyer, Jody (Johnna) Seifert, Heith (Faith) Dey, Charlie (Dana) Dey, Kristen Braatz-Rades, Joshua Braatz, and Collin Kandler; many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by brother, Keith Dey; granddaughter, Brinkley; and her grandparents.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
