Sophie "Sonny" Mortensen, age 85, of Eau Claire (formerly of New York, NY) died on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.

Sonny was born on September 17, 1929 to the late Peter and Mary (Sudnikowich) Andriewsky in New York, NY. She was a proud New Yorker growing up and living most of her life there and where, on June 14, 1947, she married Roy Mortensen. Her loving and generous heart was shared with many inner city children throughout her years as a teacher's aide in the NYC education system. In their later years, Sonny and Roy moved to Eau Claire to be closer to family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy (Anthony) DeProspo of Eau Claire; granddaughter, Genesis; nieces; Sue (Tom) Geheran, Sandra (Ozen) Agus, and Donna DeProspo; nephews, Steven and Daniel DeProspo; and many loving extended family members. 

Sonny was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and sons, Richard and Larry.
