HOELZEL, Howard H., age 86

Died: Saturday, June 13th, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at St. Olaf Catholic Church with the Father Felix Tigoy officiating

Visitation: Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church

Interment: Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family

 

Howard H. Hoelzel, age 86, of Eau Claire died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire.

Howard was born on May 17, 1929 to the late Clem and Gertrude (Schreiber) Hoelzel in Nichols, Wisconsin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. While on leave, before shipping out to Korea, Howard married Lois Gilson on April 29, 1952 in Tempe, Arizona. For 25 years Howard worked as a manager with Wickes Lumber Company. In his retirement years he enjoyed driving for Railroad Crew Transport. He enjoyed woodworking, supporting the Packers, watching NASCAR, taking long car drives and being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Debra Van Deurzen of Eau Claire, Jean Kowalski of Alma, WI and Steve (Kathryn) Hoelzel of Englewood, FL; grandchildren, Abby Howard, Amy (Adam) Krause & Jason (Maria) Kowalski; great grandchildren, Elijah and Zoe Krause, and Wyeth Kowalski; brother, Clem (Helen) Hoelzel of Waupun, WI; many other family members and friends.
