Lawrence D. Lee, age 78, of Eau Claire passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Dove Health Care-West in Eau Claire under the care of Mayo Home Health Care and Hospice.

He was born on October 11, 1938 to the late Christopher K. and Sadie I. (Engum) Lee in Eau Claire. In 1959, on Valentine's Day (February 14), Lawrence married Velda J. House at Concordia Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and to this union three daughters were born.

For over 20 years Lawrence was a custom home builder owning his own business - Lee's Custom Built Homes. He later worked for the City of Eau Claire Parks and Recreation Department, retiring after 21 years. Lawrence was a very talented man leaving his mark all over our beautiful parks and the City of Eau Claire,

Lawrence loved his family with all of his heart. He was most proud of the 57 years he and Velda shared, his three daughters, three granddaughters, and his only great granddaughter, Charlotte Rose. He was quick witted and enjoyed the comradery he shared with his many friends and family members.

He is survived by his loving wife, Velda; daughters, Lori (Roger) Schindler, Debra Lahr and Angela (Kenny) Lane all of Eau Claire; his "4th" daughter, Jenny (William) Israel of Harrison, TN; granddaughters, Kassondra (Zach) Jastrow of Eau Claire, Amanda Lane (Nicholas Spehle) of Chippewa Falls, and Heather Lahr of Minneapolis, MN; great granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Jastrow; twin sister, Lorraine Bergh; sister, Judy (Dennis) Owen both of Eau Claire; many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin (Bernice) Lee, Lester Lee, and Jarvin Lee; sisters, Mavis (Robert) Mahr and Joyce (Richard) Belden; and brother-in-law, Gary Bergh.

The family would like to thank the Drs. and nurses of Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, Dove Health Care West, and Mayo Hospice for their loving and compassionate care they gave to Lawrence - it was so greatly appreciated.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
