Bill was born on July 30, 1938 to the late Harold and Evelyn (Erickson) Feirn in Marshfield, WI. He attended Eau Claire Senior High School and was very active in the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He also served in the Army National Guard. Bill started his career at Machine Industries in Chippewa Falls working with his father as a tool and die maker and certified welder. He retired from Machine Industries as Vice President and started his own mobile welding business, TCM Mobile Welding. He was the best at what he did and could fix or make ANYTHING!

On December 2, 1983 he married Judy Jobe-Hibbard. Captain Bill and Judy enjoyed many years boating and fishing on the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes on their boat the "Judith Ann". He served 15 years with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in Bayfield, WI and was the District Captain for several years. Bill was an avid downhill skier for 72 years and his favorite was skiing Powderhorn with his friend, Pat. Bill also enjoyed stock car racing, driving dirt and asphalt track for several years on the local circuits. For the last several years, Bill spent most of his time relaxing on the deck at his home on Clear Lake enjoying the scenery and the boats going by. Nobody passed without a wave from Bill.

Bill is survived by his wife, Judith Ann; sons, Jeffrey (Linda) and John (Kim); step-daughter, Colleen (Kevin) Kastel; grandchildren, Cory, Kyndra, and Jacob Feirn and Cody, Joseph and Jesse Kastel; sister, Mary Spiegelberg; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Tom) Hoepner and Ann (Bob) Quast; brother-in-law, Peter (Jessi) Jobe; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many caring friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert; mother- and father-in-law, Joseph and Frances Jobe; brother-in-law, Wayne Spiegelberg; and special friend, Roger.

Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Lake Hallie Memory Care for the wonderful and loving care they gave Bill for the last six months. He loved you all!
