John "Jack" R. Maypark, age 72, of Eau Claire died on Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home after a 15 year struggle with A.L.S.

Jack was born on July 29, 1944 to the late John H. and Emma (Anderson) Maypark in Amery, Wisconsin. He proudly served our country as a Paratrooper in the U. S. Army 508 Airbourne. On September 10, 1995, he married Bonna Christianson at a private residence in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota. Jack worked for American Hoist in St. Paul before joining Holiday Vacations and Northfield Bus Lines as a coach driver. While working with Holiday Vacations he made many memorial trips to Alaska making many wonderful, life long friends. John was a member of the American Legion #53, P.V.A., M.D.A. and the A.L.S. Association.

He loved to dance and listen to the polka bands at October Fest, enjoyed the telling of a great joke, traveling around the country seeing it's many wonders, meeting new people and being with his family. He was an avid Packer/ Badger fan and loved listening to the Badger's marching band. Jack will be deeply missed by his family who dearly loved him and by the many, many friends he made throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Bonna; children, Jodene Moore of Chandler, AZ, Jon (Karim Valji) Maypark of Seattle, WA, Patrick Philips of Flagstaff, AZ, and Lane Wilkinson of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Joshua (Esther), Cade, Jackson, Tiana (Alec) and Miah; great granddaughters, Kaileigha and Leilani;brother and sisters, Gerald, Patricia, Charlotte, Janice and Cheryl (Tom);many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; daughter, Kimberly; step son; Nick Philips; his first wife, Susan, and beloved companion, Credo.

We would like to thank the many aides who provided care and help for Jack over the years paying special attention to his needs - especially his partner in crime, Ben Rubenzer. Last, but not least Jack Daniels.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
