Larry "Bear" Leroy Andrews, age 77, of Eau Claire passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his favorite place in the world - his cabin near the Brule River.

Larry was born on November 18, 1937 to Ruby Andrews in Merrillan, WI. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, Larry moved to Eau Claire in 1956. For many years he was a roofer in the area until joining the Laborers Local 317 where he retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed this new free time for his passion, fishing, but missed the social interaction with people. He joined BFI (later Violia) part time where he made many lasting friendships.  But the fish were calling and he retired completely a few years ago.

On April 17, 1993, Larry married Cheryl Johnsted after a fun and exciting 10 year courtship.  Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing the Brule, traveling, camping and spending time in Minong with his in-laws. They continued to make Eau Claire their home.

Larry is survived by his heart broken wife, Cheryl; sisters, Shirley (Vern) Anderson of Eau Claire and Janice (Mike) Flynn of Dallas, WI; brother, Bill (Sue) Phillips of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Rhoda Phillips of Cleghorn ; Cheryl's sister, Michelle D. Johnsted of Eau Claire and brother, Steve Johnsted of MN.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and a fishing boat full of great friends and memories.

He was preceded in death by his adorable mother, Ruby Phillips and her husband, William Phillips; brothers, Keith and Kenny Phillips; mother- and father-in-law, Donna and Duayne Johnsted; many aunts, uncles and other family and friends.

Fish on...

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
