Arlene A. Everson, age 85, of Eau Claire went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 3, 2015.

Arlene was born to the late Carl and Matilda (Schutz) Carlson on May 13, 1929. She grew up in rural Boyceville, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. After graduating from Boyceville High School, Arlene worked in St. Paul for a brief time. On August 28, 1948 she married Donald "Don" Everson in Boyceville. Arlene was blessed with a loving family of five children, eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Arlene was known for her love of sewing and her children grew up wearing beautiful handmade outfits. She was also known for her love of gardening and pie making. Every family birthday for more than 50 years was celebrated with her highly desired angel food cake with chocolate/whipped cream frosting. As a volunteer for over twenty years, Arlene directed the Lutheran Braille Center Large Print Workshop at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Altoona. Nothing gave her greater joy than to know that she and her "little band of faithful workers" were bringing the light of Christ to visually impaired people.

She is survived by her children, Carole (Matt) Rybarczyk of Burlington, WI, Diane (Greg) Kaufmann of Chippewa Falls, WI, Colin (Sue) Everson of Monument, CO, Mark (Cindy) Everson of Omaha, NE, and Donna (Rick) Rutten of Poplar, WI; grandchildren, Martin (Amy) Kaufmann, Sara LaFlash, RyAnn (Ben) Donnelly Freer, Tom (Tiffany) Rybarczyk, Kalista (Pete) Kaufmann-Willi, Kelsie (Xyrus) Maurer-Alcala, Christopher, Hannah, and Rachel Everson, and Luke and Ariel Rutten. She was also blessed to love and to enjoy the following great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Gavin LaFlash, Wesley Kaufmann, Brenna, Ethan, and Natalie Freer, Lauren Willi, and Connor and Blake Rybarczyk. Many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive Arlene.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Don; brothers, Merle and Raymond; and sister, Ruby.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
